Here is a solution to a problem identified and corrected by Julian Hopkins
This relates to Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit). The problem is that when you install SocSciBot, SocSciBot Tools and Cyclist in Windows Vista, it may put them in three separate folders rather than one folder (as previous versions of Windows used to do). The three programs need to be in the same folder to work best. If Vista gives you a choice, choose the same folder for all of them (e.g., SocSciBot). If it does not give you a choice then the three programs can still work but you will need to do the following.
After your first crawl with SocSciBot, copy the SocSciBot.ini file from the SocSciBot folder into the folders for SocSciBot Tools and Cyclist. The file SocSciBot.ini contains information about where the data is stored, where Pajek is etc. But it is not created and initialised until SocSciBot is first used.
For example you may copy SocSciBot.ini from
C:\Users\[user name here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SocSciBot3\
to
C:\Users\[user name here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SocSciBot Tools\
and copy SocSciBot.ini from
C:\Users\[user name here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SocSciBot3\
to
C:\Users\[user name here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Academic Search Engine\
